AAMI members interested in giving back to the healthcare technology management (HTM) field have the opportunity to join the association's Technology Management Council (TMC) and Healthcare Technology Leadership Committee (HTLC).
Nominations are being accepted for eight openings on the TMC (six members at large and two members under the age of 35). This 26-member committee represents the interests of biomedical equipment technicians, clinical engineers, and other HTM professionals. The TMC's work is driven by AAMI's strategic plan and the HTM roadmap developed this summer.
Major priorities for the TMC are to strengthen and bolster the HTM field by finding creative ways to promote HTM careers to outside organizations, developing materials to highlight HTM as a desirable profession to students and young professionals, creating education programs to develop the existing workforce, and producing resources to promote best practices.
AAMI also is accepting applications to fill four open positions on the HTLC (two members at large and two members under the age of 35). This 17-member group seeks to develop the next generation of HTM leaders by nurturing leadership skills among HTM professionals and advancing the professional interests of HTM managers.
AAMI members interested in serving a three-year term as a TMC or HTLC member can apply using the online applications available on AAMI Connect, AAMI's online networking and discussion tool. Members wishing to apply for a young professional spot should complete the "under 35" application for the committee of interest.
Both groups require a commitment of roughly 15 volunteer hours each year. If selected, committee members must:
Applications are due Feb. 28. To learn more about the committees or the nomination process, contact Danielle McGeary at firstname.lastname@example.org.
AAMI has also posted two additional volunteer opportunities for members to participate in! A new Next Generation Advisory Group is now taking applications, where a group of 5 individuals under the age of 40 will brainstorm new or improved AAMI initiatives to engage early career professionals. Additionally, we are seeking mentors for our Mentor Monday series to give their professional advice and opinions on career development and advancement topics. Apply for either of these opportunities today by visiting the Volunteer page on AAMI Connect!
